  Flux-Cored Solder

  Rosin Based Multicore Flux-Cored Solders are safe to use provided that certain precautions are observed

   

  Fume Hazards and Precautions

  Solder alloys containing lead do not give off lead fume at normal soldering temperatures and at

  Temperatures up to 500°C, Excessive inhalation of the flux fumes given off at soldering temperatures,  

   which are irritating to the throat and respiratory organs, should be avoided.

   

  Flux-Cored Solders must always be used in well ventilated areas.    

  Suitable fume extraction equipment should be used to extract the flux fumes away from the operators

   

  Protection   and Hygiene

  Lead is harmful if absorbed into the body through the digestive system or skin.  

  Eating, drinking and smoking should not be permitted in the working area.

  The hands should be washed with soap and warm water after handling solder, especially before eating.     

   

  Waste Disposal

  Waste material should be stored in closed containers and should be disposed of in accordance with the relevant Acts of 

  Parliament and Local Authority Byelaws. Advice may be sought from the Waste Disposal Officer of the Local Authority.

   

  Spillage and Waste Disposal

  Spillage of the material should be mopped up with sand or sawdust. Waste material should be stored in closed containers and

   disposed of in accordance with the relevant Acts of Parliament and Local Authority Byelaws.

   Advice may be sought from the Waste Disposal Officer of the Local Authority.
